During last 24 hours the solar flaring activity was low with only several B-class and low C-class flares reported. The largest reported flare was GOES C3.9 flare (peaked at 14:00 UT on April 06) originated from the Catania sunspot group 48 (NOAA AR 3270) which is presently approaching to the West solar limb. All the other reported flaring activity originated from the Catania sunspot group 50 (NOAA AR 3272) which is still rotating across the East solar limb. In the coming hours we can expect C-class flares and possibly also isolated M-class flares. During last 24 hours a number of filament eruptions was observed but all of them were associated with the narrow and rather slow CMEs that are not expected to arrive to Earth.
The Catania sunspot group 48 (NOAA AR 3270) is presently approaching to the West solar limb, and a possible large eruption originating form this sunspot group could be associated with the particle event. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux remained at the background levels, and the greater than 2 MeV electron flux was fluctuating around the 1000 pfu threshold. The 24h electron fluence is still at moderate to normal level. We do not expect significant change in these three parameters in the coming 24 hours.
Earth is presently inside the slow solar wind with velocity of about 410 km/s and the interplanetary magnetic field magnitude is around 5 nT. During last 24 hours the geomagnetic conditions were quiet to unsettled. We expect such a geomagnetic conditions to persist in the coming hours.
